A co-worker of mine was savoring his last few days as a single man. He asked if he should expect things to change between he and his fiance after they were married. I told him that after marriage if your wife asks you a question, expect them to be all rhetorical questions. After marraige if your wife asks you a questions she really doesnt want you to answer it. If the question is asked regarding something financial or something about decorating, she has already made up her mind on the subject matter, it is merely a formality that she is asking your option. She wants you to think you were involved in the decision making process so you wont feel left out. I will cite some examples below.

1. A co-worker's wife asked her husband if she should paint the front door plum. He responded, no, I dont even know what plum looks life and thought that she heard no. He came home later that night and the front door was painted a different color.

2. Do these pants make my butt look big? I have found myself asking this question myself to my husband. Don't answer this one! If you feel you should reply, say something like honey, you look beautiful no matter what you wear, in fact you look beautiful in your birthday suit! If you think the answer is yes, they make your butt look big, be prepared to sleep on the couch for a week!

3. Where do you want to eat tonight? Tell your loved one that she can select. Tell her you know she works hard so wherever she selects you will be happy. The wrong answer is I thought you would be cooking tonight.

If a woman really wants an honest opinion on her clothes, her hair, her looks, she will ask a girlfriend. If she asks a man, what she really wants is to hear how beautiful she is. She needs some positive feedback. Whatever, you do dont answer her question without carefully picking out your response! Remember the above examples and you will communicate just fine.
