The new diet on the block is The Sonoma Diet. The diets of the past with eating 3000 hot dogs are pass now and the holistic approach to dieting is in. If you are looking to be part of that in crowd, or just want to lose weight this is a great program to help you achieve just that. With the Sonoma Diet gives you the opportunity to lose weight without having to count every calorie! Seems almost too good to be true, lets take a quick look at how the Sonoma Diet achieves this.

First, the Sonoma Diet works in waves. Take a moment to think of Californias sunny beaches, a glass of wine in hand (which is allowed on this diet as well) and watching the waves come in. The first wave starts by setting things in motion. One of the concepts it uses that seems simple enough, and is quite effective, is using plate sizes.

For breakfast a 7 inch plate is used and for lunch and dinner a 9 inch plate is used. Before you start take some time to clean out your cupboards and get rid of any temptations that may linger there. There are a few restrictions in the first wave such as fresh fruit, not to worry however they appear again in the second phase along with a wide variety of recipes included in the book.

In the second wave food choices are increased. Many of the vegetables and fruit are reintroduced in this wave; keeping in mind you they are eaten in limited proportions, just like any of the other food groups. In many dieting programs the third wave would be equivalent to the maintenance stage. In the Sonoma Diet however the preferred terminology would be the Sonoma Diet Lifestyle.

A few other things to know about The Sonoma Diet is that the recipes were developed to get the most of your food choices. They are varied and give you healthy, wholesome foods that many people should have more of in their diets. Dont forget to add exercise to your routine. The better set you are at the beginning which may seem like a lot, the more that routine will become habit. The 2005 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee Report recommends an hour to an hour and a half on most days of exercise for weight loss and weight management.
