The attractiveness of a home business lies in the promise of freedom and an increased cash flow. It is often the case that people who start a home business come from jobs that made their lives miserable. The reasons that they found their jobs unbearable vary from "I did not get paid enough" to "I could not spend enough time with my family," and the list continues. But whatever the reason behind their change into a home business, everyone has the two same basic goals in mind: earning more and working less. These are fine goals for a home business and very achievable as well. However, the majority of people who start a home business end up leaving it behind and going back to the job they hated in the first place. This begs the question, "Why is this happening?" There could be several explanation to this question, but one of the most common is held in the home business myth "You won't have to work hard." Every successful home business owner can attest to the fact that in a home business you do not work as hard as you would in other professions. In respect to the back-breaking work that most people do, running a home business feels like a breeze. It can be the easiest job you could do, with the greatest amount of personal freedom and highest earning potential attached. Still, it is a business and work has to be done in order for the benefits to be experienced. Many hopeful home business owners take the idea of a lighter work load and take it to the extreme. They put in little or no time into their business and expect money to start coming to them. This defies logic yet, this is the reality of what is happening with more and more new home business owners. The truth is that unless you have inherited millions of dollars or have won the lottery, you will need to work. How much and what type of work are ultimately up to you. This is what makes home business alluring. Home business is a wide open field with unlimited potential, yet the pitfalls littered along the way can be inviting but dangerous. It is important to push past the lies and the myths that are told to us on a daily basis so that our business can take flight. |
