Queen the Starbucks

Author: Sharon Wilson

Espresso out of there.

The major players running FL-Rep Katherine Harris' campaign have bolted.

Characterized by departing staff as the ultimate "Prima 'Micromanager' Donna", Harris apparently is one caffe latte short of obsessive-compulsive.

Campaign manager Glenn Hodas, communications director Chris Ingram and field director Pat Thomas are the latest staff to jump Harris' sinking ship of constant clean-up. Apparently, Harris does exactly what she wants without regard to the circumstances, relegating her political advisors to deal with the Spic and Span of "Not my Fault".

Ed Rollins, former political director for Ronald Reagan and previously associated with the Harris Senate campaign as a campaign strategist indicated, "Everything is someone else's fault. If there's not a Starbucks coffee house within distance, it's someone else's fault." (AP, July 14, 2006).

Harris' most recent grande to date involves "borrowing" $100,000 dollars of her personal $3,000,000 contribution to the campaign, to complete the remodeling of her historic Washington DC home. Oh, she will sell the home to finance her campaign.

If necessary. Oh, if she has to, that house is s-o-l-d. Faster than one regular coffee to go. Make that decaf.

Belly up to the coffee bar and order a caffe mocha caramel macchiato latte au lait shot. "This is absolutely insane," noted Jim Dorman, a former Harris campaign manager. "I've never heard of a candidate taking money out of a campaign coffer like it's an ATM. It absolutely boggles my mind." (AP, July 14, 2006).

The Harris campaign appears to be one cappuccino shy of implosion.
