Aspen the elite city is a ski resort and is home to many celebrities like Cher, Donald Trump, Michael Douglas, Jack Nicholson, Mariah Carey and many more. It is the largest city and county seat of Pitkin County, Colarado.You will find abundant number of aspen trees and hence the name. Surrounded by mountain and wilderness areas on all three sides-Red Mountain to the north, Smuggler Mountain to the east, and Aspen Mountain to the south this place stands truly unique to its name. After the foundation of Aspen Skiing Company this city emerged as a skiing resort.

This is one city that never sleeps all the year round. It has now become a favorite international destination for recreation, arts, business and intellectual discourse. Though visiting this place may not come cheap but its definitely worth the amount and stay. you can have lots of fun with your family and friends. Visiting in winter may require more cash, though you can save money by commuting to the slopes from Glenwood Springs, less than fifty miles away.

Aspen is can be said as the home to the rich and famous. The high property values of the place make it difficult for middle income workers to settle here. But if one can afford this place is worth everything. The downtown after being transformed into an upscale shopping district has become a popular tourist attraction. It has everything including high-end restaurants, salons, and boutiques. In this place you will find high-end luxury homes and condos mixed with legacy residences and mobile home parks of the residents trying to maintain the unique character of the city. You can see the vast economic class difference which becomes difficult to maintain.

Some of the popular places to visit in Aspen city include:

Aspen Highlands: Specializes in steep trails, it also offers easier trails for novices. A favorite destination of the locals.

Wheeler/Stallard Museum: It charts the storied course of Aspens modern history, from silver-mining boom town of the l800s to the chic cultural, sports and snow center it is today.

Aspen Art Museum: This museum holds many famous arts and is a favorite destination for art lovers.

Buttermilk Mountain: 3 miles from the resort it is a popular destination to learn skiing. It is well known for its breathtaking scenery.

Aspen Mountain: Popularly known as the athletes mountain as it has many challenging slopes.

Summers are always filled with colors and festivals. The Aspen Music Festival, Dance Events, Jazz, Theater, Festivals and countless Art Galleries take place in summers. If you are looking for an adventurous vacation this is the place to be. You can go fly fishing, mountain biking, hiking, tennis, rafting and golfing. And in the night you can enjoy the mouth watering delicacies this place offers in the dining places. There are also very nice nightclubs for all the night lovers.
